SHAKER SWEEPER BROOMS

Where traditional Besom brooms had always been round, the Shaker Sweeper Brooms are pressed tight between a wooden vice so they can be sewn flat & then trimmed off straight across the bottom for greater sweeping coverage. This unique, new broom design originated here in America during the early 1800s in the Shaker Communities of upstate New York. We use freshly harvested stalks of broomcorn, hand-plaited without the use of any machinery, just as they were made during the 18th Century, onto custom-made, hand-finished hardwood handles fashioned from local, sustainable & ecologically harvested timber. A leather hanging strap allows for proper care of your broom.
