BROOMS FROM THE GROUND UP at Mountain Heritage Handcraft

Get swept up for 5 days of exploring the Art of Broom Making from the ground up. Students start out harvesting sorghum tassels from the field and learn all about growing, preparing and sorting broomcorn. Then we’ll whittle and finish rough sticks into fine broom handles. Finally we’ll plait a variety of brooms; from floor & hearth sweepers, to cobweb besoms, and various styles of whisks. Functional & fanciful, great gifts for home: multiple brooms will be made by all, and students will leave with the know-how to continue making brooms on their own. All levels welcome. Some hand strength required.

MATERIALS FEE: All tool rentals and the materials needed for each student will be provided by the instructor for all inclusive fee of $85 (check or cash) payable at the time of the class.
