The annual Alton Holman Heritage Summer Camp will host young students for an immersive week of learning and laughing while making several styles of brooms, besoms and whisks. Participants will stain and finish rough sticks into fine broom handles, as well as learn all about growing, sorting and preparing broomcorn. Finally, gain the skill of historic hand-plaiting used to make a variety of brooms; from cobweb besoms to various styles of hand brooms. Functional & fanciful, great gifts for all occasions: multiple brooms will be made by all and students will leave with the know-how to continue making brooms on their own. All levels welcome.
