Appalachian Antler Basketry

Students will learn to use a shed Antler as a basket handle and incorporated it into weaving an Artisan Rib Basket.

Combining the beauty of a naturally shed Mule deer antler with artisan rib-style basket weaving, you will create a fanciful, functional Appalachian Antler Basket of your own design. Using a variety of colors and natural materials including vines, cordages, reeds, grasses and fibers, weave away the weekend making a one-of-a-kind creation. Discussions of shapes & types of antlers and a demonstration of how to drill them will prepare you for future projects at home. All levels welcome.

Classes will be held at the WillowWilde Farms homestead in Blue Ridge, Georgia, Saturday & Sunday from 10am until 6ish. All materials are included in the class price, including the antler & weaving materials, and Soup or Chili for lunch. Moderate hand strength is required.
